With the arrival of the cold season, the olives harvest already ended in some olive groves and is about to an end in others, so the pruning begins. It’s very important to eliminate dry or damaged branches to allow the plant to grow vigorously, to obtain a rich production of olives and to reduce the phenomenon of alternating production. Before spring, we proceed to replenish the fertility of the land, waiting for our trees to be ready to set off to reconquer the new green gold.

Our olive groves are charactherised by native cultivars, Biancolilla, Cerasuola and Nocellara del Belice, which adapt to the ground, the climate and the typical cultivation methods of the territory.

Our citrus fruits production is based on three mains varieties of oranges. These are accompanied by other types of citrus fruits, such as lemons, clementines, mandarins and cedars.

Our 11 hectares of land are located in Sciacca at about 200 meters above sea level, with crops with peculiar characteristics, they adapt to the soil, the climate and the typical cultivation methods of the territory.

The cycle of seasons marks the time and the landscapes of the fields, thus marking the optimal period for carrying out the various useful practices for obtaining high quality products.

The flowering of the olive tree begins with the arrival of small inflorescences (named “mignole”), initially green in color and which when they mature take on a whitish color. With flowering, the processes of pollination and fecundation are completed, which ends with the setting phase, which marks the transition from flower to fruit. Generally, the fruit set only affects a small part of the total number of flowers present on the plant and is equal to about 1-2%.

Summer
During the summer season, we constantly perform field checks and we monitor the population of the most harmful insects with samples. Sun and hot are our allies to contain the action of the oil fly (Bactrocera oleae). When optimal conditions for insect development occur, if strictly necessary, we are ready to intervene with environmentally friendly products.

The arrival of autumn brings with it the veraison of the olives, which leads to a progressive color change from green to purple-red, cultivars for cultivars at different and precise times. To obtain the maximum quality result, we harvest the olives before full ripening and we transfer it to the oil mill within a few hours, where they are pressed within 24 hours.

During the winter, our citrus fruits reach their maximum splendor and rich in vitamin C they are preparing to reach our tables delighting us and helping to strengthen the immune system.

Summer
Pruning begins with the elimination of excess branches to stimulate the plant towards the emission of new shoots. We also irrigate our citrus grove so that the fruits present reach the final size in the absence of stress.

Citrus fruits continue their grown and begin to transform their acidity into sweetness, it is a process that will lead them from intense green to straw yellow until the complete acquisition of the typical orange pigmentation.
